Summary:

Greater Heat (Dàshǔ), the twelfth solar term in the 24 solar terms, is also the last solar term of summer, falling annually on July 22-24 of the Gregorian calendar. At this time, it is the middle of the sixth month of the lunar calendar, hence the saying, “When Greater Heat arrives, half the year is over.” Greater Heat falls around the middle of the three dog days (Sānfútiān), and most parts of China enter the hottest period of the year during this solar term, with the peak of "damp heat" also occurring at this time. The three dog days are characterized by high temperatures and intense heat, representing the hottest and most humid time of the year. During this period, attention should be paid to "heat prevention" and "dampness removal".
